I love my job – I said it, I meant it and I am here to tell you why. As a city planner I enjoy the truly rare opportunity to begin each day with grand ambition and expectation. Ambition that I can truly make an impact and the expectation that the education and training I have received over these past twenty years will serve me well as I work with colleagues, stakeholders, clients and friends to imagine and implement plans that hard work should achieve.

I hope this column can become a forum where ideas are shared and debated, and where executable solutions can start. I started in this business, or as folks may otherwise call it my passion, over twenty years ago- I began as VISTA volunteer in Camden NJ followed by time as municipal city planner and for the last 15 years as a planning consultant working on a number of transportation and infrastructure projects across the country.

After the hundreds of projects, thousands of miles traveled, and dozens of fascinating colleagues and clients, I am still consumed with answering the question that first led me on this wonderful journey - How and why are our cities organized the way they are? I invite you to join me in discussing this existential question and other interesting topics in the weeks that follow. Should be fun!
